Here is a short tutorial on making barbwire obstacles.
Start of with a piece of plastic mesh cut to size.
Form a cylindrical shape and glue the ends.
Cut so that you have your individual wire strands.
Glue to your base.
Add your base cover, I used gravel.
Paint the base.
All that remains is the dry brushing and flocking, ENJOY!
Hi Greg,

Greg, I've just come across your blog having come back to modelling after a 25 year year break. Love the concept will definitely have to give it a go. Just one question, what size is the mesh?? If had to guess it looks 2 or 3mm square. Am I right?
ReplyDeleteHi Andrew, welcome back so many changes I'm sure! Yes the square is no larger than 2mm could even be a bit smaller. Give it a bash and let me know how it goes.
DeleteGood idea, simply and effective way of making Barbed Wire,
ReplyDeletethanks John
Pleasure John that is why I posted to be of help to others.

ReplyDeleteCan I just ask what was the mesh you use originally intended for?
I've tried it with some of the mesh that can be used for needle point (albeit at the budget end) but it's MUCH thinker than yours and looks ridiculous.
Thanks.
Andrew
Hi Andrew the mesh is used for door screens. It keeps the insects out. Also known as granny grating. Try tent suppliers or people that work with canvas.
